Kurt and Lydia
Kurt and Lydia Shaw

I grew up in the small south central Nebraska town of Edgar, NE. My parents took my 2 younger sisters and I to church every Sunday, as well as every time the doors were open. We went to church with my Grandparents and my Great Grandparents on my mom’s side. I was baptized when I was 11 years old. When I graduated from high school, Lydia and I went to Ozark Bible College in Joplin, MO for a year, then Lydia and I were married the following summer, and we went back to college part-time for another year.

I retired after 40 years with the phone company and now enjoy new adventures with Lydia. We have been involved in church work in Joplin, MO, Edgar, NE, Lexington, NE, Alliance, NE, Casper, WY, Idaho Falls, ID, and then back to Nebraska in Norfolk.

We have one son and two daughters, 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. I’ve been involved as a deacon, and elder at various times as well as leadership in missions. Lydia and I made a trip to Aparri in the Philippines to help install a phone system in a mission hospital in 2000. Since then, I have been to Haiti 8 times to work with a mission. I have served as a chaplain at the Juvenile Detention Center since 2021.

My faith in Jesus Christ has become deeper and more profound as I get older. Life has taught me that no matter what the situation, God loves me and is faithful.

We started attending the Norfolk church of Christ in 2020. I was selected as an elder June 5, 2023.
